I love bubbles! A good glass of bubbly is enough to brighten my day, no matter how dark or gloomy, and Gloria Ferrer Blanc de Noir is often my go to. This beautiful bottle-o-bubbles is inexpensive and delicious! Blanc de noir roughly translates to “white of red”, meaning the wine maker used red wine grapes to make a white wine (or in this case a delicate kiss of pink). Gloria Ferrer Blanc de Noir is made from Pinot Noir and a little bit of Vin Gris.
It’s fruity and bright up front with pop of fresh strawberry notes. This flavor is complimented by notes of bright cherry and strawberry cream. It’s delicate and complex, fruity, rich, and balanced. The bubbles go on forever. What more could you ask for? At $20.99 a bottle, this sparkling over delivers for its price! If my praise isn’t enough, the professionals will back me up here. It received 90 points from Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator !
I was first introduced to this wine at Lighthouse where I fell in love with it instantly. When I was lucky enough to visit Napa last year with my Mom and Aunt Mary, I insisted upon visiting Gloria Ferrer’s vineyard. It was the last day of our time in Napa before heading on to San Francisco. Early that morning we had visited Cuvaison Vineyards, and after our appointment at Gloria Ferrer we had an appointment scheduled with Duckhorn. Needless to say we had such a wonderful experience on the tour, we decided to stay.
We canceled our next appointment, and purchased a bottle of bubbles to enjoy in the courtyard that over looked one of the blocks of Pinot Noir. How could you not enjoying this breath taking view? We had a snack, and like total rookies got talked into joining the wine club. This would make sense if I didn’t work at Lighthouse, and for a time it did. I received a a couple of shipments containing wine that isn’t available in the state of North Carolina (and it was DELICIOUS). Alas, I’m surrounded by fantastic wines every day at Lighthouse. I’ve since canceled my quarterly shipments, but still enjoy Gloria Ferrer Blanc de Noir frequently.
If you’re ever in the area, be sure to stop by this vineyard. It has fantastic views, wonderful people, and outstanding wines. It’s even dog friendly! And if you’re not able to make it to Carneros, stop by Lighthouse and grab a bottle to go. You can even enjoy it in the Beer Garden! We’re pouring Gloria Ferrer Blanc De Noir by the glass right now!
