Have you ever heard of a Sparkling Malbec Rosé? When I first came across this style I was hesitant to embrace the contrast of flavors that I assumed I would experience. With my first tasting of Alma Negra Brut Nature I was hooked. How could this be? Champagne like body, various complex flavors with the malbec grape being a huge part of this special treat.
This Argentinean sparkling is produced in Mendoza; in the Uco Valley Region know for an attractive region to produce malbec grapes. The vintage is from 2013 and boast a 12.8% ABV. On the nose of this impressive sparkling, you will notice hints of chocolate, dried cherries, and smoke. The aromas and flavors are subtle but expressive and very unique.
The minute aggressive bubbles deliver directly to the roof of the mouth a soft cassis and melted licorice influenced with cherry, strawberry and raspberry flavors. With all the confusion of the burst of intense flavors this sparkling is smooth and extremely well balanced.
Alma Negra would pair great with grilled meats, slow cooked beef, duck, and lamb. This is a bottle that you and your guest will thoroughly enjoy at your dinner table. So come see us for at Lighthouse for this selection and many more.
