“….The Voracious and Rare Beer Festival will take place on the Battleship NC from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Fri., Oct. 28. It’s an event for the true beer aficionado. “We will have 40 different beers that are rare, one-offs, aged in special barrels and otherwise not generally available to the public,” Brown says. Proceeds benefit the Carousel Center, a nonprofit which helps abused and neglected children of southeastern NC. The Carousel Center is also the beneficiary for Saturday’s 16th annual Lighthouse Beer and Wine Festival held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Waterfront Park (11 Harnett St.) in downtown Wilmington. “…it cannot be denied how important Lighthouse is to our craft beer culture. They have supplied our town with a hearty selection of beers, and when the temperature drops and the leaves start changing, the Lighthouse Beer Festival gathers Wilmingtonians and those from around the world together for a day of brews and entertainment.”

“Two months ago, my text message alert chimed: “Get your beer fest ticket … NOW!” Yes, two months ago. That is how much Wilmington resident’s look forward to the Lighthouse Beer Festival, because those that have attended understand the sheer bliss of it all. It’s inevitable, for when so many favorable factors combine, the equation measures out as nothing short of elation. Allow me to point a few out:

Beer, beautiful scenery, old friends, new friends, beer, live music, unbridled laughter, food, beer, discovering new tastes, lounging on the grass, mingling with alike minds and beer. And that’s just to name a few.”

“People were able to enjoy a few cold ones in Wilmington on Saturday, all while helping a good cause.

The 10th annual Lighthouse Beer Festival was held off of Randall Drive. A portion of the proceeds benefitted the Carousel Center, an organization that helps out children who have been physically and sexually abused.”
